On Feb 4, 2012 the Women's Welsh Club hosted artist Prudence See who shared her paintings and slides inspired by a visit to Snowdonia in North Wales.
She also read related exerpts from her travel journel.
The artist states:
In April and May of 2011 I lived in an old stone cottage near Penmachno in Snowdonia, North Wales named "Tan-Y-Clogwyn" or "Under the Cliff" in English. It is built on a steep hillside beneath an old quarry ledge and looks out across a valley to distant fields of sheep and beyond to the high mountains of Snowdonia. As the spring flowers emerged after the long, high country winter I documented in sketches and journaling, the experience of living there, the cottage and landscape and the many many sheep, in an exceptionally bright and beautiful Spring. I am in the process of creating work inspired by this experience for an exhibition. It will be a portrait in words and pictures of this lovely place at that time. I plan to draw the viewer, through paintings, monoprints and excerpts from my journals, into the experience of being at Tan-Y-Clogwyn, the little cottage under the cliff, just up the hill from the end of the road.
